Sacred Ceiling
Walking into La Sagrada Familia in Barcelona is like walking into a lush and beautiful rain forest made of stone, it takes your breath away.
The sunlight through the windows lets the interior explode with colors and light, while still maintaining a sense of tranquility and mystery.
This Cathedral, a century and more in the making, is a masterpiece of art in architecture that still today is unique, futuristic and yet organic, filled with extraordinary symbolism of biblical and everyday life, unrivaled by anyone else on this scale.
To me this image bridges past and future, darkness and light. Looking at the ceiling you will find that it is filled with stars, connecting the earth and the heavens with the pillars as trees reaching up to the sky.
For the architect, Antonio Gaudi, spirituality, and love for nature fed his creativity which led him to create some of his finest work. He devoted almost his entire career to this project. I see him as a visionary and rule breaker, willing to defy convention and conformity to design and create something for the everyday person to enjoy for generations to come.
