Louvre Pyramid
The Louvre Pyramid, which serves a functional purpose as access to the museum is considered one of the world’s most iconic design masterpieces. However, at the time of construction, Chinese-American architect I.M. Pei, was criticized for the design, which was so diametrically opposite to the surrounding buildings.
Today, the museum which opened on 10 August, 1793, is one of the most visited institutions in the world, and the Pyramid is a celebrated part of the Paris landscape, like that other controversial structure the Eiffel Tower.
This image is a conversation between the Louvre’s majestic old French Renaissance architecture, and the modern glass structure in the form of a pyramid, with the old always shining through the modern as a historical reminder and foundation.
