Tower Bridge Blues
The Tower Bridge in London is probably one of the most recognizable structures that spans the Thames.
It is a remarkable piece of engineering, completed in 1894, designed by Horace Jones and engineered by John Wolfe Barry and Henry Marc Brunel. It spans 800 feet and the towers on either end with two walkways at the top and a pair of bascules that open to allow shipping to pass.
What I loved seeing on my walk across the bridge was the almost delicate blue inner archways in the tower sections, set against the strength of the stone.
