Crown of Light
Everyone who visits New York City has at one time or another been inside Grand Central Terminal.
Just off the main concourse, you can find these incredible golden light fixtures, which, when illuminated, give the feel of magnificent and intricate crowns. They are in fact acorn shaped, a nod to the Vanderbilt family symbol, Cornelius Vanderbilt being the railroad owner who commissioned the original Grand Central Terminal.
Through years beset by accidents, pollution and big traffic increases, the building was revised and replaced a number of times, until the building we now know, was completed in 1913.
