The fully-automated container terminal in the Port of Long Beach, California – the first of its kind in the world – is a fascinating place where you can see self-driving trailers and automated cranes moving rapidly and seamlessly across the yard, efficiently moving the thousands of containers from ship to truck. Trucks which have been loaded up then exit the yard through the area shown in the photo. I was fascinated by the geometry created by the pillars, booms and shadows.
