Forest of Glasses

The arrangement of the wine glasses in this beachfront bar window in Laguna Beach, California, looked like the trunks of trees in a forest of glasses, with the ocean in the background.

Nets and Knots 1

While on a visit to South Africa, I stopped by the Hout Bay harbor near Cape Town for lunch. The quayside in the harbor was fascinating… Seals yawning and basking in the sun, and row upon row of lobster traps, waiting to go out on the fishing boats. I was drawn to the colorful interwoven threads and the abstract visual they created.

Flying Bobs

The Fire Department in Margaretville, NY, hosts an Annual 4th July Field Days Fair in the Village Park. We were in Upstate NY training for the Annual Bike Ride I participated in, raising funds for AIDS relief services, and on one of our trips out and about we came across this fair, and one of the fun photos from the day at the fair was this shot of ‘Flying Bobs’, a colorful fairground attraction ride.

Eleven Twelve

At the one end of the main floor of the Musée d’Orsay in Paris you’ll find a magnificent gilt clock displaying the time to the museum-goers. Of course such a beautiful piece of horologic mastery just had to be photographed, and allowed me to capture this fabulous detail shot.

A Slice of Light

Casa Batlló is a UNESCO World Heritage site, located at 43 Paseo de Gracia in Barcelona. Originally built in 1877, and remodeled in 1906 by Antoni Gaudi, turning it into the work of architectural art that it is today. This photo is a detail view of one of the dramatic interior ceiling lights, with light emanating from what appears to be a slice in the ceiling.

Chrome Sentry

You may have read elsewhere in the descriptions of my work, that I absolutely love the beauty of Art Deco design. The Chrysler Building in the Turtle Bay neighborhood on the East Side of Manhattan in New York, is a masterpiece of Art Deco architecture. This image is of one of the metal ornaments on the Chrysler Building, seen in isolation against the sky, depicting strength and a look to the future. Approximately fifty of these ornaments protrude from the building’s corners over five floors, like gargoyles on an art deco-era office tower cathedral, and on the 61st floor they…

Radio Silence

New York is filled with incredible shopping opportunities, and collectables and antiques abound, so for those who appreciate vintage pieces, you are in luck! Exploring one multi-storey antique market, I came across a store that had a collection of antique radios, TVs and telephones, and the silent side by side placement of these now quiet pieces was absolutely charming, and just begged to be captured! It brought back wonderful memories from my childhood, in times before we had a TV, listening to radio broadcasts of stories and music… Squad Cars, Jet Jungle and the Top Twenty were some of my…

Venice 330

The beauty of Venice lies in the details and in the unique way it was built, with the use of wood in its construction and foundations. Knowing how beautiful, lush and fascinating the interiors of this magnificent city are, I loved how a door as rustic as this, could be the enigmatic gateway to hidden luxury behind it. Although many Venetian walls and doors are shrouded by abundant fragrant Jasmine flowers, almost to the point of sensory overload, this doorway is a simple, elegantly-aged portal to the home beyond.

Seine Steps

There are many staircases along the length of the Seine river in Paris, giving locals and tourists access to the magic and history the river has to offer. While sitting on the banks of the river, waiting to take an evening boat trip towards the Eiffel Tower, I was fascinated by the details and hidden history on the embankments, hidden in the walls. That is where I captured this image of what appeared to be stairs, but was simply an architectural fancy, built into the wall. It made for a fascinating abstract detail image.
