Oculus Detail 1

This is a series of four images of the dramatic, soaring ‘Oculus’ in New York City.

Designed by Santiago Calatrava, who said the building should deliver a feeling of hope, resembling a bird flying from the hands of a child, this structure stands as the centerpiece of the World Trade Center Transportation Hub, on the site of the September 11, 2001 attacks.

Calatrava is known internationally as an artist, sculptor, painter and architect of many imaginative and futuristic buildings.

In these four images, the light and shape on the bird-like building takes on an organic, almost femininely soft form, a fresh and natural contrast to the stark glass buildings in the area.
