Reflecting on the Past
This image is a single shot photo, not a collage, even though that’s what it appears to be. It is a reflection in the window of an antique store in the Santo Spirito neighborhood in Florence, Italy, famous for its Renaissance architecture.
It depicts the layered nuances of everything that surrounds us: there’s more to life that what’s apparent at first glance, not just what we see on the surface.
Reflected in the window, along with the fabulous contents of the antique store, is one of the many Vespas littered through the streets, and the famous La Via del Tè, Tea Store which is an Italian family owned business. Tea and Vespas are big deal in my family, as is a respect for Renaissance architecture, that originated in Florence in the early 15th century and spread throughout Europe, replacing the medieval Gothic style.
