Boboli Stairs

Florence, Italy is home to the sprawling and bountiful Boboli Gardens, an incredible place to slow down and lose oneself in the history and beauty of the grounds.

It is an outdoor museum of garden sculptures with Roman antiquities as well as 16th and 17th century works, filled with plants, fountains, statues, and grottos.

Over time the gardens passed through many stages of enlargement and reconstruction, and this staircase, seemingly no longer used, made me wonder how it might have fitted in, and where it might have led to.

My endless fascination with textures, and things ‘fallen from grace’ really drew me to this rustic staircase.
