Magic Emporium
One night, walking through ‘Little Italy’ in New York City, I was totally captivated by this fascinating storefront of the Elizabeth Street Garden and Gallery.
Everything about it drew me in. Looking through the window, one sees it filled with magical and eclectic items that you will probably not find anywhere else.
The building itself is an old 19th century firehouse, which also served as a bakery in its day.
The owner and proprietor of the store collected a myriad of sculptures and artifacts over many years, and housed them in this building and the adjoining 20,000 square foot Elizabeth Street Gardens.
Much controversy surrounded the City’s approval to develop much of the gardens into housing, laying waste to much of the valuable green space in the concert barrenness of Manhattan.
