Once Upon A Fairground

Founded in 1902, the amusement park on the shoreline of Ocean Boulevard in Long Beach, California, was home to rides, gift shops, food stands and even a large wooden rollercoaster, built on pilings out over the waves of the sea.

Eventually, the amusement park closed and the land was reclaimed, and became home to a mall, restaurants and a marina, but the theme of the rollercoaster was reimagined in a bridge that crosses Shoreline Drive, which was the original beach, giving the feel that the rollercoaster lives on.
