Watery Windows 6

The inner courtyard of Antoni Gaudi’s Casa Batlló is a fascinating play on light and color.

The tall narrow area uses the color on the tiles on the walls to reverse the effect of light diminishing towards the bottom, by using darker tiles at the top and lighter tiles at the bottom.

The staircase railings also allow a lot of light through, using textured glass panels, giving the effect of images reflecting on rippling water.
